Mit unserem Holzverbindungskonzept waren wir vom 19. bis 20. April dabei als sich zum zweiten Mal die Holzbrückenfamilie in Bad Wörishofen, Deutschland, zusammen gefunden hat um aktuelle Themen zu diskutieren. Im Vordergrund standen dabei die Kriterien für eine optimale Konstruktion mit Holz und leistungsfähige Verbindungen für den Schwerlastbereich.

Holzbrückenbau als wichtiges Aushängeschild des Ingenieurholzbaus

Die internationalen Holzbrückentage bieten praxisgerechte und alltagstaugliche Informationen, in Form von Fachreferaten zu Themen, welche Architekten, Ingenieure sowie Holzbauunternehmen bei der Bearbeitung von Holzbrückenprojekten begegnen. Neben der Wissensvermittlung durch die Fachreferenten hatten die Besucher die Möglichkeit, sich in der angegliederten Fachausstellung über neueste Entwicklungen und Innovationen im Brückenbau zu informieren.

Die Pausen wurden von allen dazu genutzt, sich einen Überblick zu verschaffen, Kontakte zu knüpfen und bestehende Kontakte weiter zu vertiefen. Auch am SHERPA Stand konnten wir zahlreiche Besucher aus der Forschung und Praxis begrüßen. Das folgende Bild zeigt Herrn Professor Kurt Schwaner von der FH Biberach mit einer Delegation eines Straßenbauamts aus Norwegen.

Day 1 up to the bust

Technicians and engineers enjoyed listening to newest developments and issues in connecting technology. Guest speakers like Prof. Gerhard SCHICKHOFER, DI Manfred AUGUSTIN and DI Ursula MAHLKNECHT from Technical University Graz, presented trends in connecting wooden elements – such as gluelam and X-lam.

An outlook about behavior of SHERPA connectors in seismic environment has been presented by DI Maik GEHLOFF from University of British Columbia, Vancouver. Best practise expertise were shown by DI Josef KOWAL – he’s project and sales engineer within the SHERPA team.

Highlight of the day was definately the „joint busting session“ presented by Manfred AUGUSTIN and his team in the test laboratory: A gluelam joint – connected with an new SHERPA L80-Series-Modell has been tested on the testing machine. Although the connector is proven for a load capacity of 80kN the final failure load went up to incredible 160 kN – whereas the burst was caused by an failure of the beams.

SHERPA’s climbing high – After an demanding technical day all participants deserved to enjoy an relaxing evening on the Grazer Schlossberg – where the whole city could be overseen. After an interesting guided bus tour through Graz, everybody was ready for an delicious dinner at the top of the Schlossberg.

SHERPA Marketing day

The 2nd day of the expert meeting was opened by an inspiring introduction into „challenges in wooden-buildings“ by Gary WILLIAMS, Timber Systems, an canadian pioneer in building with wood. By an stimulatory „best practice“ in sales-presentation by Andrew GALLACHER all visitors were guided over into an professional market overview, presented by Martin LANGEN, B+L Marktdaten, who pointed out the future markets of gluelam and building spots in SHERPA markets. Sales arguments and ways how to market the SHERPA Concept were presented by SHERPA Sales Manager Hubert J. Burboeck.

As an „final“ of these days the group enjoyed the last evening in an traditional „BUSCHENSCHANK“, an typical wine restaurant with local food and wine on the hills of Graz. So far everybody got very satisfied and promised to „stay connected“ and due to the great success, the event will be renewed on a two-years basis.
